- First thing you should do is to weed out any fake gold from possible gold is take a "Rare earth magnet" (its super duper strong and it works great) If there is any magnetism at all it is fake. But expect the clasp to be magnetic because there is a little steel spring inside the clasp so it can open and close.
- Take your Jewelers loop and carefully look if there is any scuffing where the gold plating might have rubbed off due to wear. If you can see the type of metal that is underneath the gold and its not gold color. Its fake plain and simple.
- First when you see something that might look like gold. Hold it in your hand bounce it up and down a-couple times. Does it feel heavier than a ordinary item that is not gold like this? If it it heavier than a normal costume item that looks the same such as chains or rings. Follow the next steps below.
- Number four. Look at the welds where the clasp meets the chain. If it is just a ring holding the chain on its usually fake. But if it looks professionally made. Like someone took time to weld it nice and neat. You should take a chance on it. Jewelers always weld there chains and earrings because it's gold they don't want it to break and fall off. Like the cheap china ones.
- DON'T TRUST THE MARKS AT ALL 10K 12K 14K 18K 22K 24k its a 50/50 chance that it could be fake. Iv gotten burned before and so will you. It's just a matter of time you will let your guard down and it will happen.
- Then finally take what you have found home and test it on your gold testing stone.

TIPS AND TRICKS ON FINDING UNMARKED GOLD
READ THIS BEFORE MY BLOG!
I'm going to post new updates on what I get over the weekend. Such as gold silver platinum vintage costume jewelry to lookout for on that table full of jewelry!
I will provide a list if anybody is serious about learning what I have learned over the years of garage sailing even before the recession hit!
I will teach you not only to identify gold and silver at first glance. Also I will post up a video on how to use acid stones! How to tell if something is a lower karat like 8-9kt. A lot of custom jewelry is marked 10k-22k But the jeweler who makes it does not put that amount. My number one rule in this business DON'T TRUST YOUR KARAT MARKS!!!!! There are a lot of fakes out there. Also, I will be posting pictures of items I will be selling eventually since I am a new blogger It might take a little bit to accumulate some items.

I found these at a thrift store. These are worth picking up for not much but worth it
if you accumulate a massive amount of these you can go turn these into gold with a little knowledge and chemistry.
Those little gold pins you see are actually gold (gold plated) Not much there but its something.
If you don't want to refine the gold yourself you can sell the whole lot on Ebay for a nice price.

Yard Sale RICHES! Gold And Silver!
This is how I make my living!
I don't have a regular job I scrap and go to yard sales!
and i live in my own apartment in california with my girlfriend and my pup lola :D!
I am a jewelry expert and have a keen eye on finding gold at estate sales,yard sales,flea markets and more!
If you would like to understand how to do such things I will be starting this blog filled with pictures of my techniques and I promise you will prosper at this and make a good second income. but if you devote yourself like I do.
You could be like me and make a full time living out of this.
And eventually build up enough clientele to have a constant supply of gold and silver.
So that is what i evolved into and that is what i'm going to teach you!
This day and age with the economy I thrive off other peoples laziness and job losses.
Its a perfect recipe for people like me to make a living off the recession. AND YOU COULD TOO!
